FIT ROW: The Perfect Combo of Cardio and Strength

Looking for a fun new fitness class that will challenge your cardio endurance and full body strength? FIT ROW is PRO Club’s newest enrollment class that will increase your strength, conditioning, and cardio endurance. Move between intense intervals on the rower and strength exercises. No previous rowing experience required.

Interested? Janelle, PRO Club’s FIT ROW coach gives us three benefits of adding FIT ROW to your routine:

1. ROWING WORKS MULTIPLE MAJOR MUSCLE GROUPS AT ONCE

A rowing machine, or ergometer, lets you reap the benefits of a rowing workout indoors. The cardio benefits of rowing alone are huge, but the added strength component makes all the difference. Rowing builds your muscular and cardiovascular endurance and strength, making you stronger and more efficient over time. Rowing works multiple major muscle groups, like the shoulders, arms, core, and legs, at one time. In reality, it is good for people of all fitness levels due to the low-impact, high intensity nature.

2. ROWING IS AN EFFICIENT WAY TO GET YOUR CARDIO IN, HAVE FUN, AND BURN SERIOUS CALORIES!

Rowing burns serious calories without putting added stress on your joints like other forms of cardio such as running or plyometrics. The Concept2 is a leading rower in the industry. Based on its authentic feel and design, it is a standard at most boat houses for land based training. Chief among these features is the performance monitor, which tracks calories burned, pace, speed, distance and watts, and offers five different display options, including games to make the workout more fun.

3. ROWING CAN ALSO BE MEDITATIVE

Due to the mind-body connection established with a proper stroke. This comes from the smooth, gliding motion you can create on the rowing machine, and the repetitive movements that allow the mind to go on autopilot. Rowing also releases endorphins, which are those feel-good hormones that reduce stress.

PRO TIP:

Proper technique is essential in rowing and necessary for a safe and effective stroke. Bad posture, such as rounded shoulders, or incorrect form can lead to injury or strain. PRO Club coaches have been through comprehensive training to inspire and educate you on the four key elements of the stroke that include the catch, drive, finish, & recovery, and will ensure you get the most out of your time on the rowing machine.
