Whether vacation or business trip, make your journey more comfortable and relaxing with these travel tips from the experts at The Spa.

BEFORE YOU TAKE OFF

Keep hydrated. Limit the amount of salt and alcohol consumed the day before and the day of travel but drink plenty of water. Herbal teas such as ginger and chamomile can also help keep you hydrated.
Give your immune system a boost and keep up with your multivitamins, fish oil, calcium and vitamin D. Exercise, low stress and adequate sleep can also help improve immunity.

DURING YOUR TIP

Calm your digestion by sipping peppermint or ginger tea. Drinking warm water throughout the day also helps to keep your digestive system working smoothly. A hint of lemon will aid in stimulating digestion and flushing out unwanted toxins.
Hydrate internally and externally with water, moisture and lip treatment. Avoid caffeine as this will cause dehydration. Aim to have a cup (8 oz) of water for each hour you’re on the airplane to ensure adequate hydration and to decrease water retention.
Improve circulation by stimulating the bottom of your feet during the flight with a Rubz ball. Wear loose-fitting clothing with comfortable shoes and walk as much as possible while on the plane or at the airport.

READJUST WITH EASE

Relieve any aches and pains with a massage. Shiatsu is known to increase circulation and enhance well-being.
Jet lag? Wind down with a warm shower and use lavender essential oil to assist with relaxation and sleep. An eye pillow can help create a darkened environment for sleep, no matter the time of day. Try to adjust to the new time zone upon arrival, but allow yourself one day per hour difference to recover when you get home.
