Spring means the sun is out and we’re spending more time outdoors while absorbing Vitamin D in moderation. Sudden weather changes can take a toll on the surface of the skin. As we transition from low humidity weather that dried our skin during winter, our oil glands may begin overproducing to shift into higher temperatures. Combine this with wearing a face mask and you have a recipe for serious skin challenges. If your skin has a history of reacting to seasonal temperature changes, consider these PRO tips.

Oily Skin
When the increase of oil gland activity combines with excess sweat and bacteria on your skin, it can clog your pores and lead to a breakout.

PRO Tip: Consider changing your facial cleanser to a gel or foaming cleanser with active ingredients to remove stubborn debris such as Epionce Lytic Gel Cleanser.

Dry Skin
Although humidity is rising, other extrinsic factors can cause the skin to become dry and irritated. The most common culprits are air-conditioning and spending too much time in the sun.

PRO Tip: Consider using a skin barrier repairing moisturizer such as TNS Ceramide Repair Cream.

Sunscreen and Daylight Savings
It is important to keep in mind that sun exposure is occurring every season, but in different moderations of UVA/UVB rays on the skin.

PRO Tip: Sunscreen is important year-round with reapplication every two hours. Consider a lightweight sunscreen such as EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum 46.

SKINPEN™ Microneedling
SkinPen™ creates micro-channels in the skin to stimulate the body’s natural wound-healing response to effectively remodel scar tissue. This treatment requires minimal downtime and results in improving the appearance of rough texture, pore size, and skin rejuvenation.

Salt Facial
This 3-step treatment combines natural exfoliation with Sea Salt, Ultrasound for firming, and high-powered LED phototherapy to draw moisture in and balance the skin’s pH, reduce inflammation, and eliminate bacterial infection.

Sweat-free with MiraDry®
Although not skincare related, this is a great procedure to prepare for the peak of hot weather. MiraDry® uses thermal energy to target and eliminate sweat and odor glands in your underarms. Say goodbye to sweat stains!

Just as seasons change, our skin can fluctuate too. Every individual has a different response during these transitions. The important part is to pay attention to your skin and address any increases in texture, discoloration, and irritation to adjust your regimen accordingly.

Every individual is different, and products and treatments may vary. It is recommended to visit the Medical Spa for a complimentary consultation (virtual or in-office) for proper skincare and treatment recommendations.

With slight adjustments to your current regimen and treatments, your skin will be balanced no matter the weather.
