F. Scott Fitzgerald sums it up perfectly when he says, “life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall”. The turning of seasons is the time to bring change into your life. May that be change of job, change of exercise, or simply a change of style… it can make you feel like a whole new person.
This season, there are a few fall trends you won’t want to miss. The common trend? It’s all a play on the basics. Adding in just a few of these pieces can bring life back into your closet and prepare you for the changes ahead!
Velvet
They say all trends come back around; this one is being revived from the 90’s! Velvet is definitely the hottest textile right now; we’re seeing it everywhere from t-shirts to dresses. The soft finish will be welcomed change this season; it’ll add a much more luxe feel to your wardrobe. The key to wearing this fabric is keeping the garment simple; velvet should be the main feature. Steer clear of added embellishments and other materials that could clutter the piece and be overwhelming.
This velvet slip dress can be worn alone, or dressed up with a sweater or jacket.
Burgundy
What color could be more perfect for fall than this deep, rich red? Burgundy is everywhere this year and we could not be happier about it. This color is flattering on every skin tone; it can be added in with a single piece, or used in a full monochromatic ensemble.
Burgundy comes in many forms – we love that you can wear it as a faux leather jacket.
Plaid
As Seattle natives we all have this trend down. This year maybe play with it in a new and unexpected way! Down the runways we saw a lot of plaid incorporated into pants, skirts, and blazers. Then there is always the classic button downs, or as I like to say, the LBD of the PNW.
One of our secrets with plaid? Pair it with a suede skirt or a pair of leather leggings to dress it up.
Cozier the Better
Who wouldn’t love a trend that is all about comfort? Sweaters and coats with a generous silhouette will be everywhere this season. There’s nothing better than a cold rainy day paired with a chunky sweater and some boots! Try accessorizing with more delicate jewelry and skinny jeans to really play up the over-sized shape.
Over-sized sweaters, jackets and coats are turning heads everywhere this season.
