Ask the Dermatologist

Does Botox really help with Migraines? What are these skin discolorations and how can I get rid of them?

It seems that there are new treatments and lasers coming out daily to help with various skin ailments and questions, but what really helps? We asked you what some of your biggest skin-related questions were, and we asked our Dermatologist, Dr. Levy, to answer them.

Q: What’s the best way to lighten age spots?

Dr. Levy: The simplest method is to use a lightening skincare product such as Lytera 2.0, or HQRA, along with an exfoliating cleanser.  To get even more lightening, I recommend a series of Broadband Light treatments (BBL).

Q: How to treat discoloration areas with age?

Dr. Levy: The best method for this is Broadband Light.  Broadband light is an innovative technology for the treatment of skin changes associated with aging, active lifestyles, and sun damage.  The spectrum of energy in this technology allows us to precisely treat age and sun spots, broken capillaries, and fine wrinkles

Q: Can you get rid of blackheads?

Dr. Levy: Yes, the best skincare product for this is Tretinoin or Retinol, both Vitamin A derived ingredients.  Getting vitalize peels and facials with pore extractions also help.

Q: Does Botox really help migraines?

Dr. Levy: Yes Botox is an FDA-approved preventive treatment for migraines.  Studies show that Botox prevents an average of 8-9 headache days per month.
